I would love for you to read this a few times and to sit with it: ‘Emotions are reactions – feelings are actions’
Most people follow their emotions. Emotions are 99% of the time a memory of the past. An emotion has settled in the body after you’ve experienced pain, disappointment, and so on.
Emotions have settled in your body, to protect you so you wouldn’t get hurt again. So you wouldn’t suffer again. Those emotions have done a bloody good job for years on end but at the same time, are limiting you to grow and go beyond your old story, now.
When you experience something, your body will bring up a certain emotion linked to something that has happened as far back as a past life, to protect you. It’s a reaction towards whatever is happening in your life. When you learn this and start to recognise this, you can embrace the emotion, give it space, listen to it, and let it go.
You can’t move on and grow when you continue to be motivated by your emotions. They aren’t even real anymore. They are simply a memory of the past. Your old story.
It’s time to listen to what you’re feeling. That’s a very different thing. Once you have calmed the emotion, you can sink deeply and feel. Emotions are linked to the ego. Feelings come from a deep place within, connected to your truth.
When something happens and your stomach goes into a knot, fear kicks in and you freeze … that’s an emotion. When you listen to it and react, you allowed the emotion to determine your outcome and you’ll be reliving your old story.
But what if you took a moment, realised that the fear is an old protection mechanism. You give the fear attention, you might hug it, give it space, thank it for trying to protect you, and then let it go. At that moment, you can sink deeper and connect with your feeling and act from that feeling out. You’re creating a whole new story now, in line with your life purpose, growing exponentially.
