When you do something for 15 minutes every day, by the end of the week, you will have practised for nearly 2 hours. After 1 month, that is 8 hours ...
I speak three languages: English, French and Dutch. I spoke Dutch to my youngest child the least. Now she’s older, she would love to speak the language. It should be easy; I speak the language and she learns. But life has it that English is our dominant language and I often forget to speak Dutch. She is the only one in our family who didn’t understand Dutch at all. I say didn’t because this is what happened:
At the young age of 11 she took the reins in her own hands and downloaded and app to learn Dutch. Twelve months later, she is still going strong! She now understands and speaks full sentences.
When you do something for 15 minutes every day, by the end of the week, you will have practised for nearly 2 hours. After 1 month, that is 8 hours more than someone who didn’t. You do the maths what that is after 1 year and more. This puts you ahead massively for just 15 minutes of work a day.
A bucket is completely empty. When you add just one drop of water every day, it will still look quite empty even after days or weeks. This will not be enough to clean the floors or water the flowers. It seems a useless activity. But eventually, when patience and consistency is had, the bucket will be full and all that water can make a big difference.
Don’t underestimate the hard work you’re putting in now. The super small steps you’re adding now. The effort, how big or small you’re putting in … now, will eventually grow into something big.
Now is all there is, and it shapes your future now.
The power of now is huge.
